Put a Light On

We've been going to Nature in Lights at BLORA for years and love it, but aren't too crazy about waiting three hours in line. This year we discovered the secret to not waiting. Go after Christmas, of course! There were maybe four cars there. We were even able to walk around and enjoy the lights. Can't beat that.

Fun fact: The law firm Tad works at sponsored one of the light displays. I can't remember which one, but I'm going to pretend it was the one representing the gorgeous USA.

Am I the only one who gets flashbacks of Lite Brite looking at these pictures? I think it's time to bring that game back.

Couchella

Every year I dream of going to Coachella. It kind of never happens, but I am always there in spirit. They wrapped it up this weekend. Unfortunately I was not in attendance and my weekend was more like couchella. Tad and I watched our shows and had some delicious take-out from Happy Wok. Why don't we do that more often? I mean, the egg rolls alone do it for me.

Let's take a moment and talk about how upset Tad was when I opened his fortune cookie. I didn't like mine (typical) and so I opened his. I don't really think that's how it goes, but hey. You would've thought I stole his winning lottery ticket. He got over it, though.

Finger lickin' good. Also, please note my hair in my hand. I do this all day, every day. Old habits die hard. I'm pretty sure that's what my fortune cookie meant to say.

Wise Guys Date

We've only got a few months left in Waco so we're making it a point to explore new restaurants. We just got a Wise Guys in town and it is only a few minutes from our casa. It would be just plain wrong not to go. Plus Tad is on a Soprano's kick right now and he was in the mood for some Italian. You can tell by the picture he wasn't excited or anything. In case you were wondering, it was as delicious as it looks. I don't know about you, but I'll do just about anything for a fancy hot dog. I blame this on my obsession with Pink's Hot Dogs when I lived in LA. I never really looked at hot dogs the same after that. The Wise Guys Chicago Dog definitely hit the spot! Hoping we make it back to this joint a few more times before the summer.

A Snowy Outing

No, not that kind of snow. I wish. In Texas, we're still eating snow cones at this time of year. Candy Cane snow cones to be exact. We decided to include Klifford on our date since we will be taking him back to Temple this weekend. By we, I really mean I. Sorry, Tad. I can tell by that last picture you will be sad to see him go.

We also ordered an egg nog smoothie. I seriously love egg nog. I don't know what it is about that festive drink, but I could drink egg nog with milk every single day. I just found a coconut milk egg nog recipe. What?! I need that in my life very soon. Also, it always amazes me the way Klifford looks at food. I'm convinced no dog has ever loved anything more.

Suspension Bridge Outing

This weekend we had a tasty Starbucks date at the Suspension Bridge. You guys, the chai eggnog latte a.k.a. cheg is back! It is only my favorite Holiday drink in the world. It also didn't hurt we had a Starbucks gift card (thanks, mom). This called for a celebration. The weather was perfect and we wanted any excuse to be outside.

I can't believe I've never been to this bridge before. Clearly I'm missing out. We went just before sunset and I have to say I highly recommend this. It was a pretty typical date for us. Flirting, me channeling my inner Carly Simon, Tad capturing awkward pictures of me, etc. After this we caught a movie and I talked Tad into cooking chili. Again. It was basically the Saturday of my dreams. Why can't every day be Saturday?

Oh, and pay no attention to me blowing kisses to Tad in that last picture. Just make note of that dreamy lighting. Sigh.

An Inside Picnic Kind of Day

We had a beautiful picnic planned outside this weekend. Fried chicken, potato salad, you name it. There were a few reasons as to why this did not happen. First of all, it was way too chilly outside to be frolicking in the grass. Also, my husband loves Taco Bell and decided he just had to have it. So we improvised a little and this is what we got. A Taco Bell picnic inside on a Mexican blanket. We know how to keep the romance alive.

P.S. Words really can't describe how much Tad loves Taco Bell. I will be out of town all week and something tells me this will be his meal of choice while I'm away.

A Kitok Date Night

Obviously we take ourselves very seriously. Only not really. How about that last picture? Tad captured the spirit of a girl embracing the cold front and winds that came in last night. It's about time, Texas.

Now back to dinner. One thing we take very seriously is a good burger. Kitok Restaurant is where it's at. Definitely one of our favorite burger joints in Waco. I ordered the double-liplocker burger with cheese and Tad ordered the egg burger. We don't mess around. Let's not forget their addicting oriental fries. They keep us coming back. If you haven't been to this sleeper restaurant, what are you waiting for? Great food and the cozy atmosphere feels like home, gas space heaters and all. Yes, I grew up with a space heater and they really are amazing.

This date night was long overdue and I'm so thankful the hubby had time to come and eat a burger with me. Something tells me he'll always make time for that!

Fireworks on the Fourth

We wrapped up the July 4th festivities with a fireworks date on the law school lawn. OK so it wasn't exactly a date. Tad's friend Tim met up with us at the show. Who says three is a crowd? We also had a little picnic with burgers and fries. A perfect way to end a great holiday. What's not love about fireworks and fries? God bless America.

P.S. Came home yesterday to a clean-shaven man. Tad said, "Happy Two Month Anniversary." Always keeping me on my toes.

PIZZA DATE AT POPPA ROLLO'S

The mister and I have been looking forward to date night all week. The last few days have been a wee bit busy. I've had way too many meetings and Tad had the opportunity to work on his first case. We were pretty thrilled about that, but let's return to the subject at hand. Pizza. I could eat it every day. In fact, there were many weeks in college I did. It's just so delicious. Tad took me to Poppa Rollo's for the first time when we first began dating. The ingredients are so fresh and it's such a fun, laid-back atmosphere. The best part you ask? They give you ranch dressing with everything you order. It's almost like they're mind-readers. That pizza joint knows how to win us over.

We usually rent a few movies to end date night, but we were just way too exhausted. I'd say the date was still successful any way you slice it. Pun intended.

A CHRISTMAS LIGHTS DATE

Tad and I got dressed in our winter's best to check out Nature in Lights at BLORA. This was such a fun date. Doesn't Christmas make you feel like a kid again? Or maybe it's Tad that makes me feel like I'm just a child. Either way, I love Christmas time with this fella. It's my new favorite thing.

I love this last message. So simple, yet so true.

Then we made our way to to Santa's Village. I was trying to show off for Tad and balance on a little rail. I almost hurt myself little does he know.

This last picture captures Tad's expression when he realized there was a light display for each of The Twelve Days of Christmas. We'd been in line for about two hours at this point. 'Tis the season!

A CHRISTMAS-Y DATE

Me and the soon to be husby got a little festive last night and went to a Christmas parade.
I particularly loved these floats. I spy with my little eye Donkey from Shrek...in a nativity scene. Just amazing.

Then we went out to eat at Kitok's. They have oriental fries. 'Nuff said.

What happens when Tad takes my camera? This happens.
