Sunday Afternoons

Look something like this...

After church on Sunday mornings, we head to the Allen house for lunch and some good pool time. A new summer tradition. It's kind of perfect. We also get to play with sweet Scout and Minnie. I think I now have cat fever (not to be confused with cat scratch fever). I have been surfing the web for a little kitty. I think this just might happen on our next move.

One more parting shot of Minnie. Love that lady.

Couchella

Every year I dream of going to Coachella. It kind of never happens, but I am always there in spirit. They wrapped it up this weekend. Unfortunately I was not in attendance and my weekend was more like couchella. Tad and I watched our shows and had some delicious take-out from Happy Wok. Why don't we do that more often? I mean, the egg rolls alone do it for me.

Let's take a moment and talk about how upset Tad was when I opened his fortune cookie. I didn't like mine (typical) and so I opened his. I don't really think that's how it goes, but hey. You would've thought I stole his winning lottery ticket. He got over it, though.

Finger lickin' good. Also, please note my hair in my hand. I do this all day, every day. Old habits die hard. I'm pretty sure that's what my fortune cookie meant to say.

Mediterranean & Museums

Tad and I are hobbits and do love our quiet activities at home, but we were eager to get out of the house this weekend. We enjoyed a tasty Mediterranean lunch on Saturday at the Al Miraj. Boy was it delicious. The restaurant also serves Pakistani and Indian food. Finally, Waco! This place is the real deal down to music. "Arabian Nights" kept playing over and over in my head during our meal (Aladdin is kind of my thing).

We weren't ready to go home after lunch quite yet so we decided to check out some local museums and libraries. By some, I mean every one. I am not lying when I say we visited every museum in Waco. We were on the hunt for a free one. No such luck there. Our next mission is to find free, fun things to do in Waco. Who doesn't love free?

Try not to let Tad's face scare you in that romantic couple shot. Still deciding if it's the sunglasses or just that smile that makes him look so sinister. That's my husband. And why I love him.

Self-Proclaimed Homebodies

What do you get when you cross a girl with a cold, a boy with an assignment due on the weekend and rainy weather? Homebody central. When Tad wasn't at the library, we were curled up on the couch watching movies or making food. Lots of food. We made a delicious pizza on Friday night. So delicious in fact that literally after every bite I would talk about it's tastiness. Such a foodie when it comes to homemade pizza. Thought I'd share a few bits and pieces of my lazy weekend in case you don't believe me when I say I didn't leave the house until Sunday morning. To be quite honest, this is what most of our weekends look like.

Love that creepy, but cute smile Tad is sporting in the last picture. What am I going to do with him?

Central Texas State Fair Fun

Over the weekend, Tad and I went to the Central Texas State Fair in Belton. Let me just say, I never miss out on this fair. It may or may not be because back in 2002 I was crowned Miss Central Texas State Fair. True story. I only competed against four other girls, but that's beside the point. I wore that crown with all of my heart. Oh, the glory days. I guess you could say I kind of have a love affair with this event. Plus when is fun rides, fried food and live music not a good idea? True Texans will say never.

We were in for a surprise when on the stage appeared an old friend from high school. We had no idea Jonathan played bass guitar for Granger Smith. So cool! We weren't able to stay and chat with him after the show, but we did catch up with his sweet sister for a bit. I just love seeing people from this area do big things. CTSF, we'll be back next year. You can count on it.

Waffles and Wedding Pictures

Sunday after church we took it pretty easy. Boy do we love Sundays. Tad whipped us up some waffles and then we ran a few errands. The highlight of our weekend was definitely Carter Lynn's first Birthday party! We were also very excited to receive a package from our lovely wedding photographers. We are so in love and wanted to put them on display ASAP. I'm especially a fan of the bamboo print. No frame required. Oh and excuse that picture of my unattractive toes from my iPhone. Just had to show off their cute packaging.

In a Nutshell

Here are just a few bits and pieces from the weekend. I went to Temple and had a date with Klifford. We ate pizza, watched LMN and cuddled. Perfect. Tad was a busy bee studying for exams. We also celebrated my grandpa's 85th Birthday this weekend. I'm a pretty big fan of him and those cowboy hats. What a stud! A trip to Austin also happened and I came home with the new MacBook Pro. This was long overdue. My current computer is missing about 12 keys because Klifford ate them off when he was a puppy. They couldn't be replaced because he literally ate them. Yeah, I know. R.I.P. VAIO. I love Apple products, but apparently have a slow learning curve when it comes to the computers. I apologize in advance to everyone I know with a Mac. I'm going to be bugging you on how to do this or that. Inquiring minds want to know...

A SATURDAY IN AUSTIN

Klifford is reason alone to watch this video. We took him to Austin on Saturday and he just couldn't handle the heat. He can be such a princess when it comes to the outdoors. Don't worry, he was very well hydrated despite what it may look like. On a brighter note, he made many new friends. We visited our favorite thrift stores and ate lunch at the most delicious food trucks. So glad Kandee joined us!

You can check out our last Austin outing with Klifford here. Note to self: Don't take him back again until fall. Better yet, winter.

OVER THE WEEKEND

Tad and I are finally getting settled in Waco and it's now time for us to hunt down the best places to eat. We are trying to save our pretty little pennies and won't be able to dine out too much, so we want it to be pretty amazing when we do. We went to Dubl-R Old Fashioned Burgers on Saturday for lunch. That burger. I die. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and it was all kinds of delicious. Best burger I've ever had next to Hut's Hamburgers in Austin. We love our burgers and will surely be going back soon.

After lunch, we checked out the local flea market. Tad fell in love with a pair of cowboy boots. Much to his dismay, they are still there. We did get a steal of a deal on some limes for our fish taco dinner that evening. Sometimes you just can't beat the flea market.

FAJITA FRIDAY

We grilled fajitas for our first meal as a married couple upon arrival back to Texas after our honeymoon. The last time Tad grilled fajitas, it wasn't very pretty. The meat wasn't exactly what you would call tender. He tried so hard to redeem himself and I'd say he did (note the garnish). I'm a pretty big fan of this man. Not to mention he hasn't asked me to cook one meal since we've been married. Who says a good man is hard to find?

Next big thing on the menu? German pancakes with buttermilk syrup. Nom nom nom.

GRILLING AND SUCH

How beautiful was this weekend? We couldn't possibly spend the entire time moving. No way, Jose. I don't have an exact deadline to be out of the parents' house in Temple so that's definitely not helping speed things along. If I'm moved in sometime before May, that will be an accomplishment. Tad wanted to grill for my sweet mom's Birthday so we did just that. Grilling might be one of his favorite things. We're both huge fans of his jalapeƱo poppers. Not exactly part of the wedding diet, but ya know.

P.S. Just figured out how to do spell check on this blog. A little embarrassed of how excited I just got. It's in the little things.
