Galveston Getaway: Part One

We took a getaway trip to Galveston to visit Tad's friend Alexander from law school. He is doing a clerkship there this summer and invited us to come down to enjoy the beach with him and his sweet wife Danielle. Boy are we glad we took him up on this! We soaked up the sun, ate entirely too much fried seafood and pranced around the island. I even practiced my acrobatic skills on the beach in spirit of the Olympics (wee bit obsessed with the sport they call gymnastics).

By the way, the humidity there was insane. My hair was not having it so that hat never left my head. If it did, I made Tad wear it so I didn't have to hold it. He was less than thrilled. He definitely gets a gold star for being such a trooper.

See more Galveston here.

Waffles and Wedding Pictures

Sunday after church we took it pretty easy. Boy do we love Sundays. Tad whipped us up some waffles and then we ran a few errands. The highlight of our weekend was definitely Carter Lynn's first Birthday party! We were also very excited to receive a package from our lovely wedding photographers. We are so in love and wanted to put them on display ASAP. I'm especially a fan of the bamboo print. No frame required. Oh and excuse that picture of my unattractive toes from my iPhone. Just had to show off their cute packaging.

In a Nutshell

Here are just a few bits and pieces from the weekend. I went to Temple and had a date with Klifford. We ate pizza, watched LMN and cuddled. Perfect. Tad was a busy bee studying for exams. We also celebrated my grandpa's 85th Birthday this weekend. I'm a pretty big fan of him and those cowboy hats. What a stud! A trip to Austin also happened and I came home with the new MacBook Pro. This was long overdue. My current computer is missing about 12 keys because Klifford ate them off when he was a puppy. They couldn't be replaced because he literally ate them. Yeah, I know. R.I.P. VAIO. I love Apple products, but apparently have a slow learning curve when it comes to the computers. I apologize in advance to everyone I know with a Mac. I'm going to be bugging you on how to do this or that. Inquiring minds want to know...

Sneak Peek

ee photography
Here's a little sneak peek from the shoot I did with Sweet Sunday last month. How fun is this? I am the teeniest bit obsessed with everything about it. Tad, I need you to build me that teepee soon. More pictures to come of this gypsy inspired wedding.

On another note, so glad it's Friday. Still wondering what took it so long to get here. Going to Austin this weekend for a hair appointment while Tad takes another final on Saturday. He'll be done on Wednesday. Praise the Lord! That boy deserves a good break. I'll also be making a little stop in Temple to visit my family and Klifford. Way too excited to snuggle and eat ice pops with that chihuahua. Yes, ice pops. Apparently that's what my dad has been feeding him according to my mom. Have a wonderful weekend!

Hello, Finals

So nice to see you again. This is Tad's least favorite time of each quarter (see above). And mine. Finals means I probably won't see him much all week. Maybe a quick hello here and there. He spends most of these days camped out in the library. Meanwhile I'm at home catching up on Law & Order: SVU. He doesn't understand why I like it so much. I always fall hook, line and sinker for criminal and forensic investigation shows. I'm convinced it'll pay off one day when I'm vicariously living through a lawyer.

Fireworks on the Fourth

We wrapped up the July 4th festivities with a fireworks date on the law school lawn. OK so it wasn't exactly a date. Tad's friend Tim met up with us at the show. Who says three is a crowd? We also had a little picnic with burgers and fries. A perfect way to end a great holiday. What's not love about fireworks and fries? God bless America.

P.S. Came home yesterday to a clean-shaven man. Tad said, "Happy Two Month Anniversary." Always keeping me on my toes.

Carnival Celebrations

We wanted to go to the carnival on the 4th of July for three reasons: ferris wheel, cotton candy and corn dogs. Not exactly patriotic, but close enough. My mom and aunt just live for fairs and carnivals. The best part of the day is we ran into Sam on our way to this little adventure. She had never been to a carnival before so we were thrilled she came along. Call it destiny. We came, we saw and we conquered. After the carnival, we went to the Pershall's for more celebrating. It was quite the fun afternoon. My least favorite part of the day was probably Tad's NASCAR shirt. No one be surprised if it mysteriously disappears soon...

A Summer Day at Barton Springs

Funny thing about this summer day is it didn't feel at all like summer. One word to describe this experience: hypothermia. OK I'm being dramatic, but there were a few moments when my entire body was absolutely numb. The water temperature at Barton Springs averages about 68 degrees throughout the year. Which is great for summers in Texas. That is when the temperature isn't 85 degrees outside. We kept telling ourselves the sun was going to shine any minute. While that never happened, we still had so much fun! Tad made friendly with the locals, we witnessed a gypsy raindance and enjoyed a little live music. This swimming hole is the place to be. Unfortunately, the raindance worked and our swimming fun was over. We hope to go back again soon.

I also came to the realization my husband might be a model. He looked so good coming out of those waters while I looked like swamp creature. I wonder what his secret is? Until next time, Austin!
