No Tricks, Just Treats

Currently...

Celebrating my second favorite holiday. Happy Halloween! How cute is Klifford in his costume? He really loved hamming howling it up for the camera on that pumpkin. Big thanks to my mom for buying this for my little werewolf.

Decorating anything and everything fall with a hint of Halloween. Lots of candy corn garland and fluffing flower poms happening over here. I can't help myself. I'm sure Tad already can't wait for the next season. Who's excited for all of the festive decor to go on sale tomorrow? Me.

Sad that our pretty pumpkin might not make it to Halloween night. It is burnt out. Literally. For some reason Tad thought it would be the perfect night light. No joke. It never even saw the light of day, just our room. Sigh. Poor little pumpkin.

A Pumpkin Carving Party For Two

We carved our pumpkin this weekend and it was definitely a success! We don't always have the best luck with carving so I'm glad it is documented we got this right. We think it's a pretty rad design and are just thankful we didn't cut the stencil out backwards again. Hooray. Hope you enjoy this little video of us working our magic on this jack-o'-lantern. This is sort of our first "home" video so you will definitely be tired of our faces by the end!

A Kitok Date Night

Obviously we take ourselves very seriously. Only not really. How about that last picture? Tad captured the spirit of a girl embracing the cold front and winds that came in last night. It's about time, Texas.

Now back to dinner. One thing we take very seriously is a good burger. Kitok Restaurant is where it's at. Definitely one of our favorite burger joints in Waco. I ordered the double-liplocker burger with cheese and Tad ordered the egg burger. We don't mess around. Let's not forget their addicting oriental fries. They keep us coming back. If you haven't been to this sleeper restaurant, what are you waiting for? Great food and the cozy atmosphere feels like home, gas space heaters and all. Yes, I grew up with a space heater and they really are amazing.

This date night was long overdue and I'm so thankful the hubby had time to come and eat a burger with me. Something tells me he'll always make time for that!

A Halloween Treat

'Tis the season of the witch or shall I say King Kong? I was out and about with my sister and mom in Temple on Sunday and we came across the most amazing Halloween spirit in the world. Yes, in the world. This local artist creates a Halloween display in his front yard every year and this year he did not disappoint. If you can't tell, we had a field day with the pictures. We loved looking at everything up close and personal. No detail unnoticed! We were simply in awe. Did I mention he made this out of leftover scraps and trash?  He is my Halloween hero. Tad, please take notes.

Salute to Supernatural

Last month we made our way to Dallas for a Supernatural convention. That's right. Officially a convention geek now. The moment I saw the first episode of Supernatural I was hooked. I mean, two brothers in a '67 Chevy Impala fighting evil supernatural beings. Sign me up. I speak for my entire family when I say we're fans. We make Supernatural references on the daily (OK maybe not daily, but a lot). We're big nerds when it comes to this show. When we found out the convention was coming to Texas, we had to make it happen.

Let me just take a moment to talk about the photo op with Jared and Jensen a.k.a. Tad's worst nightmare. Kandee and I had been discussing how we were going to pose for weeks. Kandee wouldn't stop practicing her pose in the hotel. Embarrassing, but true. Well all of that changed when we were in the room. I just knew we had to go in for a hug and that's what we did. I'm not one to usually get star-struck. When I was an intern for HBO in L.A., I was completely professional when it came to events and meeting some pretty talented actors. Well, got a little speechless when we met these two. We only exchanged a few words, but Jensen is as witty as his character and that Jared, a real peach! When we received the pictures this week, we were thrilled to bits. And how cute are my mom and aunt Carol? They were just loving every minute.

What about Tad? He is a huge X-Files fan and since Supernatural has the same director-producer, it's no surprise he enjoys it a little himself. He was such a good sport to come with all of us girls and even got a picture with the Impala. What a stud.

So that's our convention experience in a nutshell. You should probably go watch Supernatural now.

Our First Fall Family Tradition

Tad and I have been talking about new family traditions since the day we were married. Our latest is to pick the perfect pumpkin from a local pumpkin patch every fall. The weather was so crisp this week and couldn't have been more perfect for this occasion.

I haven't been to a pumpkin patch since I was a little girl. I thought we would just find one pumpkin and be on our merry way. Who was I kidding? Before I knew it, we had six pumpkins in all shapes and sizes. I just couldn't stop. I've always been obsessed with anything pumpkin, but now it's at a whole new level. Can't wait to carve this jack-o'-lantern soon! Halloween is my second favorite holiday and I am beyond ready for more pumpkins, horror movies and candy overload.

Self-Proclaimed Homebodies

What do you get when you cross a girl with a cold, a boy with an assignment due on the weekend and rainy weather? Homebody central. When Tad wasn't at the library, we were curled up on the couch watching movies or making food. Lots of food. We made a delicious pizza on Friday night. So delicious in fact that literally after every bite I would talk about it's tastiness. Such a foodie when it comes to homemade pizza. Thought I'd share a few bits and pieces of my lazy weekend in case you don't believe me when I say I didn't leave the house until Sunday morning. To be quite honest, this is what most of our weekends look like.

Love that creepy, but cute smile Tad is sporting in the last picture. What am I going to do with him?
