A SATURDAY IN AUSTIN

Klifford is reason alone to watch this video. We took him to Austin on Saturday and he just couldn't handle the heat. He can be such a princess when it comes to the outdoors. Don't worry, he was very well hydrated despite what it may look like. On a brighter note, he made many new friends. We visited our favorite thrift stores and ate lunch at the most delicious food trucks. So glad Kandee joined us!

You can check out our last Austin outing with Klifford here. Note to self: Don't take him back again until fall. Better yet, winter.

LITTLE DUDE

This little dude. My dad snapped these shots of us two when I visited Temple earlier this week. He's the only person besides my sister who is the teeniest bit obsessed with that chihuahua. If you've met me, you know the obsession. And even then you still don't know the half of it. Love that little nugget to pieces. Can't wait for some family time with him Saturday in Austin. We're pretty pumped it's a three day weekend. We have all sorts of things planned.

Happy Friday to you and yours!

P.S. Our lovely photographers sent us the wedding pictures last night. To say we're in love is an understatement.

OUR FIRST DINNER PARTY

Tad and I hosted our first dinner party on Saturday night at the newlywed nest. We invited Tad's friend from law school, Alexander, and his sweet wife over for dinner as a token of appreciation for all of his help moving us in. Her friend was also visiting that weekend so she tagged along too. The more the merrier! Both girls are hairdressers. Of course I just love that (a little hair obsessed over here).

We made the fanciest fish tacos you've ever seen. This was our first dinner party so as you can see we went a little overboard. We're new at this. Next time you can probably expect to see more Tupperware dishes, less fancy schmancy. After I set the table, my job was basically done so I could just put my feet up, literally. Tad and Alexander grilled the fish and boy was it delicious.

Definitely eyeing the cutest vintage Siesta Ware on Etsy for summer dinner parties and barbecues. We can't wait to have more friends and family over soon. Summer get-togethers are calling our name.

OVER THE WEEKEND

Tad and I are finally getting settled in Waco and it's now time for us to hunt down the best places to eat. We are trying to save our pretty little pennies and won't be able to dine out too much, so we want it to be pretty amazing when we do. We went to Dubl-R Old Fashioned Burgers on Saturday for lunch. That burger. I die. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and it was all kinds of delicious. Best burger I've ever had next to Hut's Hamburgers in Austin. We love our burgers and will surely be going back soon.

After lunch, we checked out the local flea market. Tad fell in love with a pair of cowboy boots. Much to his dismay, they are still there. We did get a steal of a deal on some limes for our fish taco dinner that evening. Sometimes you just can't beat the flea market.

DEAR KLIFFORD

Klifford. Beauford. Kleef. Werewolf. You're a man of many names. I'm so sorry you haven't joined us yet in Waco. I know you're loving your life with the other chihuahuas in Temple. We can't wait to bring you up here next month. So many people are anxiously awaiting your arrival. You even have your own bedroom. Tad is just thrilled.

To make up for lost time, Tad and I will be scooping you up next weekend for a little trip to Austin. Your favorite. Food trucks, thrifting and so many strangers to befriend (or bark at). Just wanted you to know you have not been forgotten. Do tell grandpa John to keep sending me pictures of your outings together. I loved the shot of you playing with ducks at the park. Making mama so proud. Miss your bug eyes and Frito smelling feet. See you very soon, little one.

OH, JUST SOME BRIDALS

Sometimes I can't believe the wedding has come and gone. I still find myself in wedding mode, swooning over wedding blogs and constantly checking the weather. Now that it's all said and done, I've been daydreaming about how perfect everything was. Including the bridals my sweet sister-in-law took for me. I absolutely love shoots with the talented Chelsea. I feel so natural and it's just too easy. She captured some amazing shots and I am just so very pleased with how they turned out! Tad is pretty pleased, too. He already has one of these pictures framed on his nightstand. He wastes no time, that one. Just thought I'd share some favorites.

P.S. That pretty little headpiece from Lo Boheme is my favorite part.

FAJITA FRIDAY

We grilled fajitas for our first meal as a married couple upon arrival back to Texas after our honeymoon. The last time Tad grilled fajitas, it wasn't very pretty. The meat wasn't exactly what you would call tender. He tried so hard to redeem himself and I'd say he did (note the garnish). I'm a pretty big fan of this man. Not to mention he hasn't asked me to cook one meal since we've been married. Who says a good man is hard to find?

Next big thing on the menu? German pancakes with buttermilk syrup. Nom nom nom.

HONEYMOONING IN PUNTA CANA

We were over the moon after the wedding and this honeymoon was the icing on the cake. Punta Cana is paradise. We couldn't get over the beauty. Or the price of the sunscreen from the gift shop. When you forget to pack sunscreen, you pay $25 for a 4 fl oz bottle. We treated that little bottle like royalty, but of course lost it after the first day. Try really hard to be surprised.

Melia Caribe Tropical was an amazing resort. Not to mention the food. I forget how dangerous buffets can be, especially when they have fried cheese for breakfast. In case you're wondering, we didn't hold back. I was also a pretty big fan of the coconut water. Couldn't stop drinking it. This is partly because they didn't have my beverage of choice (Diet Coke) on the resort, only Coca-Cola Light. Two very different things if you ask me.

We were definitely the cliché newlywed couple. There was lots of flirting and shameless PDA (which I'm usually not a fan of). The beach makes me a hopeless romantic.

Punta Cana, till we meet again...

JUST MARRIED

Kaci Scarlet Allen here. Feels 10 kinds of amazing to say that. Hard to believe we were honeymooning in the Dominican Republic just hours ago. Even more hard to believe we got married on Saturday. It was absolutely perfect. Smiling so crazily wide this entire week. Can't wait to share pictures and a little Super 8 video from the big day.

And that picture of my toes in the sand? We're still pretending we're in Punta Cana. No need for the honeymoon to end just yet. In other news, I'm learning to be very domestic. It's more hilarious than anything else. God bless Clorox Disinfecting Wipes.
